Anthropic is celebrating the launch of its new usage bundles feature by offering one-time extra usage credits to Pro, Max, and Team plan subscribers. Pro plan users can claim $20 in credits, while Max 5x subscribers receive $100, and both Max 20x and Team plan subscribers get $200. To be eligible, users must have subscribed by April 3, 2026 at 9 AM PT and have the extra usage setting enabled in their account. The promotion runs from April 3 through April 17, 2026, and claimed credits expire 90 days after redemption.
The credits work across Claude's full product ecosystem, including the main Claude interface, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and third-party applications that integrate Claude's API. All models and features available on a user's plan are covered. Enterprise plans and Console accounts are excluded from this promotion. Users must claim the credit via the banner on their Usage settings page—credits are not automatically applied.
The promotion has generated mixed reactions among users. Some Hacker News commenters report not seeing the claim banner despite meeting stated eligibility requirements, suggesting there may be additional unstated criteria, such as exclusion of users who previously received promotional credits. Others have noted that enabling extra usage—a requirement for the promotion—allows automatic billing once credits are exhausted, requiring manual intervention to disable. Some users also expressed frustration about recent changes to credit depletion rates and reported slower response times in Claude Code, potentially signaling capacity constraints as Anthropic scales its agent-related offerings.
The promotion comes as competition in the AI assistant market intensifies, with OpenAI and Google both pushing aggressive pricing and feature bundles for their ChatGPT and Gemini subscriptions. Free credits may help Anthropic retain users experimenting with multiple AI platforms, even as the company faces questions about infrastructure capacity.
